Christmas is just around the corner, and Christmas means needle art!
This beautiful piece was recently brought in by a client for framing so it could be displayed this season with her Christmas decorations. It is a wonderful example of multiple kinds of stitches, fabric inserts, metallic threads, and beadwork.
We selected a forest green suede fabric for the top mat, with a metallic gold inner mat and a gold frame to pick up the gold metallic threads. The needle art was mounted on a conservation board, so it could be removed in the future without harming the needle art. Years ago, craft stores sold a “sticky board” to mount needle art, but needle crafters today frown on such permanent methods.
When you consider the time and talent required to create such an intricate piece, why not use quality materials and techniques to showcase and protect the needle art?
